It turns out that the DDR4 standard has been on the market for nearly a decade, starting with the 6th Generation Intel Core “Skylake” processors in 2013 and continuing through the 14th Generation Core “Raptor Lake Refresh” and AMD Ryzen Socket AM4 processors, which means there is a huge stock of devices with DDR4 memory on the market, and there are users looking to upgrade.

Electronic Times reported that South Korean memory chip makers such as SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics have suspended plans to phase out DDR4 chips and may continue to supply until spot prices lag significantly behind DDR5. At the same time, the two companies will remain cautious in supply to ensure that there is no excess inventory.
